If you use this website you are regarded as having accepted the following General Terms and Conditions, which include our Privacy Policy and Conditions of Sale where relevant, so please read and abide by them.

2A. Description

A full and detailed description of every product is viewable online,  please ensure before agreeing to buy a particular product that you have clicked on the main picture or the ‘more info’ line which opens up the many detailed specifications and pictures including close ups which are available with the products.  These pictures will show features such as knots and splits which some consider disadvantageous and others advantageous;  by agreeing to buy you acknowledge that the features and characteristics of the particular board are to your liking.  Exact scientific wood species of each product is not given or guaranteed and the name listed as the ‘Wood Type’ is given in good faith as a description for the product as being the most likely species,  but we do not carry out scientific or laboratory tests on each tree so we cannot guarantee complete accuracy and we do not accept liability for incorrect descriptions if you disagree with our description,  whether or not you have a laboratory certificate to prove otherwise.  If you are unhappy and wish to make a return,  see section 6.

2B. Price

All items for sale though our website are priced in pounds sterling and are inclusive of any UK taxes that may apply unless stated otherwise (e.g rough sawn boards pages).

Prices do not include

i) Any other sales taxes in your country or state

ii) The amount of any customs or importation duties applicable to the goods as levied by the tax officials in the country of destination

iii) Any special packaging or shipping or insurance required by you

We undertake to adhere to the price specified in the order acceptance, even if the price of the goods has altered between the date of the transaction and the date of their despatch.

3. Availability

Stock sold through the online shop will be automatically removed from sale,  but we also sell the same stock of timber to callers to the shop on the premises and these sales have to be manually removed from the online shop stock; although we endeavour to update the stock on the website daily (usually within an hour) it is inevitable that occasionally an item you purchase online will have already sold from the premises that day and not yet been removed from the stock.  In this event you will be informed as soon as possible and your money refunded in full; in the case of paypal payments this is a straight reversal of the sale and you wont incur any charges.

4. Payment

i) The Wood Place / Lanarkshire Hardwoods / Patrick Baxter Furniture is not licensed to offer ‘Online Credit Facilities’ therefore all orders must be paid for prior to despatch.

ii) Payments may be made through our Secure Site and we accept most leading credit and debit cards and Paypal.

iii) Wood products orders / shop items not paid for within 24 hours are returned to stock if we have not managed to contact you for further instructions about taking payment.

iv) We require any additional and mutually agreed labour charges for machining or furniture making and all bespoke furniture commissions to be paid in advance of starting work.  Large commissions may be broken down into agreed advance, stage & balance payments.

5. Delivery

Most parcels are sent TNT express delivery, delivery by end of next working day after dispatch.  We cannot guarantee the TNT service but it is very reliable.  In periods of adverse weather conditions there may be extra delays.

We aim to normally dispatch your order within 1-2 working days, subject to payment being cleared and stock availability, and as a maximum within 5 working days.  You will always be notified when your item has been shipped of the anticipated delivery day.

If there is likely to be a delay in your item being despatched, such as stock availability or holidays, we will notify you and advise you of the revised timescale.

Saturday delivery is available at an extra cost of £19.50.  You will need to obtain clarification from us that we will be able to despatch in time for the forthcoming Saturday slot, before confirming the order. Normally a sale concluded by end of Wednesday will qualify.

You may specify a specific day for delivery,  as long as we have enough notice – usually 2-3 days,  but please contact us to confirm with plenty of time in advance.

We can deliver items up to 6m in length and any weight ( restrictions for NI, Isle of Man,Channel Islands) but only items up to 30kgs & 3.6m will go by TNT express or equivalent,  oversize items will be by a separate courier service which usually takes approx 2 weeks.

6. Returns and Refunds

If, for any reason, the item arrives with you damaged or is unacceptable, we will make every effort to rectify the situation to ensure you are fully satisfied with your purchase. However, we know that on occasions you may want to return the items.

If an item is damaged, please notify us within 24 hours from proof of receipt (all items are sent by recorded mail) and return it to us within 14 days. We will then replace the item or refund you.

If, for any reason, you simply change your mind and wish to return the item, you can cancel the order within 7 days from  proof of receipt. Following receipt of the returned item (which must be in a saleable condition) we will refund the purchase price within 30 days.  Cost of the return remains with the purchaser. Items returned should be packaged in a suitable way to ensure they are not damaged in transit. The items must be in their original or similar packaging and in a saleable condition.

When returning an item:

· Please enclose a note, giving the reason for the return. If the item is faulty please give a full description of the fault.

· Wrap the package securely, and in the original packaging.

· For your protection, we recommend that you use a recorded-delivery service.
