Cedar of Lebanon is a conifer so classed as a softwood and is relatively soft and light weight.  It seasons easily without distorting so has a small movement in service – it won’t move much with small moisture content changes indoors.

It is a prime cabinetmaking timber which cuts and planes easily.

The prime feature of Cedar of Lebanon is the strong aromatic fragrance,  which in the past was employed to repel moths in wardrobes and chest of drawers.

It can take a range of finishes.

Cedar is naturally durable so lasts well outdoors,  the heartwood especially.  Our kiln dried boards would expand if used outdoors and warp slightly but this shouldn’t stop their use as garden furniture if desirable.
