Quarter Sawn

UK grown Cherry is available in relatively small sizes and rarely grows straight and true, but it has a wide variety of warm colours and textures – ripple is sometimes seen.

It has medium movement in service so it is advisable to use relatively narrow width boards.

It cuts, planes, sands and takes a polish well.  It is moderately hard and fairly strong and is well up in the overall tables for all performance properties compared with other home grown hardwoods,  hence Cherry’s popularity with cabinetmakers, turners and carvers.
