Last stacks before Christmas

A contented sight, my last stacks of 2016 built up at the sawmill today  and just as I was finishing a visit from a favourite customer bearing gifts and money for wood!  Rest of album shows me stacking today and David helping last week sawing and stacking wide waney edged elm – his last week working for me, he will be working full time with his own furniture making business, Sorell – https://www.facebook.com/SorellFurniture/ , from the new Year, and will be ‘sorely’ missed! My new sawmill apprentice, ‘Al’ the vac lifter, now settled in well in his new home alongside the sawmill, making light work of the job. 

I am now officially on hol until Monday 9th Jan but open the 2 Wednesday mornings to callers and the shopping website will be monitored for incoming orders – http://www.thewoodplace.com/shop/ . If anyone is bored over the hols keep a look out for boards of oak being added to the website shop page every few days, some more nice pippy wildwood ones coming soon.
