Beech is a fairly dense, hard, heavy wood that resists dents and takes a good polish.

It has good properties as kitchen chopping boards and worktops, furthermore.

It has a moderately high movement in service,  however it will warp / expand / contract if moisture content changes.

We condition our beech wood for a central heated environment.  However, while you are working on your wood, do not leave it for any lengthy period in an unheated damp workshop,  for instance.

Old trees commonly show rich warm orange, pink & red heart colours and often flame (a type of ripple figuring).  Overly mature trees may show ‘Spalted’ black line markings, furthermore.
